Applied Behavior Analysis is an evidence-based approach used to understand behavior and teach meaningful skills. ABA can help learners develop communication, social, daily living, independence, and other functional skills while addressing behaviors that interfere with everyday life.
Who does Chasing Your Dreams ABA serve?
CYD provides ABA services to children and adolescents age 18 and younger with autism spectrum disorder, subject to clinical appropriateness, insurance requirements, service area, and staffing availability.
Where do you provide ABA therapy?
We provide services in homes, schools, and community settings throughout our service area.
Do you have an ABA clinic?
Not currently. CYD’s present model focuses on providing ABA in home, school, and community environments.
How many hours of ABA will my child need?
It depends on the learner. CYD services may range from approximately 10-40 hours per week based on clinical need, individualized goals, insurance authorization, and other factors. Treatment intensity may change as the learner progresses.
Getting Started
Does my child need an autism diagnosis to receive services?
For insurance-funded ABA through CYD, families generally need an autism spectrum disorder diagnosis and supporting documentation. Insurance requirements vary, so contact us to discuss your situation.
Does CYD diagnose autism?
No. CYD provides ABA services but does not diagnose autism. If your learner needs a diagnosis or updated diagnostic documentation, we can explain what documentation is required so you can work with the appropriate provider.
How long does it take to start ABA?
When there is no waitlist, the process typically takes approximately 3-4 weeks, although timing varies depending on required documentation, insurance authorization, assessment scheduling, and staffing.
What happens before therapy begins?
The process generally includes intake, documentation review, insurance verification and authorization, an ABA assessment, development of an individualized treatment plan, authorization for services, and pairing the learner with a Behavior Technician or RBT.
Families & Treatment
Will I be involved in my child’s ABA therapy?
Yes. Caregiver involvement is an important part of our approach. Parents and caregivers help us understand the learner, identify meaningful priorities, and support skills outside direct therapy. We also provide caregiver training and ongoing communication about treatment and progress.
How do you choose my child’s goals?
Goals are based on clinical assessment, the learner’s individual needs, and input from caregivers and other important people in the learner’s life. We focus on skills that can make a meaningful difference in everyday functioning, independence, communication, relationships, and quality of life.
Who will work with my child?
Direct one-on-one therapy is provided by a Behavior Technician or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
Will the same strategies work at home and school?
One important goal of ABA is helping learners use skills across different people, places, and situations. Providing services in natural environments allows us to work toward skills that carry into everyday life.
Insurance
Does insurance cover ABA therapy?
Coverage depends on your insurance plan, diagnosis, medical necessity, authorization, and other requirements. CYD cannot guarantee coverage. Contact our team and we’ll help verify your benefits and explain the next steps.
Which insurance plans do you accept?
CYD works with Medicaid and multiple commercial insurance plans. Because participation and benefits may change, please contact us to verify your specific plan.
